To Whom It May Concern:
Because of recent events in the American political climate, I have been informed that there is a chance that PBS, the Public Broadcasting System, may eventually have to sell Sesame Street to venture capitalists who will sell off the apartments, Mr. Hooper’s Store, and drill the parks for oil. I am actively looking to switch careers. I have proven myself to be a loyal employee. I have been employed by PBS since 1969. In that time, I have had a diverse experience and I have much to offer.
I have done extensive work with preschool-aged children. I have effectively taught many children about letters, numbers, and shapes. I do not have a teaching license, per se, but I am aware of how to write educational objectives. I have worked with both suburban and urban children, and I do not feel that any child would be left behind in my classroom. I utilize visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning within the classroom. Students have learned well when I have created lessons that utilize mnemonic behavioral instruction. I am creative and I invoke the children to utilize their imaginations as well. I know that I can motivate children into feeling strong and proud, and “at-risk” children would develop the confidence needed to become successful lifelong learners.
Lastly, I am a member in good standing in the Good Bird Club, and I have made social contacts with the likes of David Beckham, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, and the Dixie Chicks. In addition, I have received some acclaim in my 43 years at Sesame Street. I have been an integral part of Sesame Street programing, and it has received 28 Emmy nominations. Also, I was recognized as a charismatic character when I received a star at 7021 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
I know that I have the qualification necessary to motivate children to do their best and be their best. Thank you in advance for considering setting up an interview with me. I will gladly meet at your earliest convenience to discuss my qualifications and career readiness. I have enclosed an autographed picture to remind you of my happy demeanor and my strong positive presence.
Sincerely,
Big Bird
